Water and Sanitation for Low Income Communities (WSLIC2) is a participatory project in eight provinces aimed at rural communities suffering poor water and sanitation conditions, high incidence of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) related diseases, and relatively high poverty. WSLIC2 empowers these communities to plan, implement and manage the water supply and sanitation systems they want and can afford. The intervention also intended to improve community hygiene conditions and practices through participatory hygiene promotion and improved WASH in the school environment.

Following the completion of project implementation, SurveyMETER was assigned by the Ministry of Health to conduct a household survey and impact assessment in seven of the eight provinces covered by the project. The overall goal of the impact evaluation was to measure the impacts of WSLIC2 on the conditions and practices related to water use, sanitation and hygiene in target households and schools, as well as the impacts on the lives of mothers and children.
