The National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K) with SurveyMETER under the support of Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), officially launched the 2012 Indonesian Family Life Survey-East (IFLS-East) data to the public. Dr. Bambang Widianto, the Deputy of Public Welfare and Poverty Reduction of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Office. He was also the Executive Secretary of TNP2K inaugurated and provided remarks at the event. He also officially launched the IFLS-East data on this occasion. The introduction was then delivered by Dr. Ni Wayan Suriastini as the Executive Director of SurveyMETER, followed by Dr. Neil McCulloch as the Lead Country Economist from Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), to end the introductory series of activities.
The workshop panel discussion was divided into two sessions: Bondan Sikoki (SurveyMETER), Jan Priebe (TNP2K), and Firman Witoelar (SurveyMETER) presented in the first panel, while Neil McCulloch (DFAT), Elan Satriawan (TNP2K), and Firman Witoelar (SurveyMETER) presented in the second panel, with Ari Perdana (TNP2K) acting as the moderator for the two-panel sessions. The two-panel sessions discussed IFLS-East data, including the impact of health, education, food, and conflict on poverty in Eastern Indonesia, and a discussion of the survey data collection process.
Around 50 participants from various institutions attended the workshop. These include representatives from Bappenas, World Bank, Knowledge Sector Initiative, UI Demographic Institute, TNP2K, PRSF, DFAT, and many others.
SurveyMETER carried out the IFLS-East data collection or the Survey of Family Life in Eastern Indonesia (SAKERTIM) in May-November 2012. SurveyMETER and TNP2K collaboratively realized it under the support of The Australian Aids through DFAT. SurveMETER has been launching this IFLS-East data since February 2014 at the address http://surveymeter.org/research/3/iflseast. Since its launch until this June, dozens of people have downloaded the data. They come from various backgrounds, academics, researchers, or observers of knowledge in general, both nationally and internationally. (JF)
