SurveyMETER in collaboration with The Sidney University and J-PAL conducted the 2015 Farmers' Sustainability Survey (SKPP-KOPI) 2015. The SKPP study was conducted in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province. This study uses a quantitative approach. The method of data collection is direct face-to-face interviews with respondents.

The data collection was carried out in two stages: firstly, the collection of data for RCTs from 11 August 2015 to 28 August 2015. Secondly, the collection of PSM data, began from 31 August to 13 September 2015.

The main objectives to be achieved from this study, there are three, namely first, to identify and analyze aspects related to the lives of coffee farmers. Second, to find out and analyze information relating to the experience of coffee farmers in managing coffee farming and other farming. Third, to find out and analyze the impact of the coffee certification program on the lives of coffee farmers.

The main respondents interviewed in this study were those who became coffee farmers, both coffee farmers who received assistance from IndoCafco and farmers who were not guided by Indocafco. Indocafco-assisted farmers in this study are referred to as coffee farmers in the RCT group, while those not guided by Indocafco are referred to as coffee farmers in the PSM (Propensity score matching) group. Thus, there were two types of respondents interviewed in this study, namely coffee farmers from the RCT group and coffee farmers from the PSM group. The number of villages that were the study locations consisted of 20 villages for the RCT group, and around 50% of the total number of RCT villages for the PSM group. All RCT and PSM villages are located in three sub-districts in Semendo, namely Semendo Darat Laut District (SDL), Semendo Darat Tengah District (SDT), and Semendo Darat Ulu District (SDU).

The target in the 2015 SKPP consists of three categories, namely farmers' households, heads of farmer groups (poktan), and village heads. This study will conduct interviews with 1,736 farm households. Consisting of 1,136 RCT households and around 600 households from Community Participation. There were 58 groups of poktan samples for RCT and 29 RCT poktan. Interviews with heads or other village staff about village characteristics, programs and basic services in the village. (JF)
