Dissemination of Dementia Study Results to Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X

SurveyMETER conveyed the 3rd Dementia Study's results dissemination in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) to the Provincial Government of DIY through Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and the Three Official Heads of related government work units (SKPDs). The event took place in the Gardi Room, Yogyakarta Kepatihan Office Complex, Monday, August 15, 2016. SurveyMETER also conducted the disseminations a few weeks earlier at the Kulon Progo and the Gunungkidul district governments.
The three heads of related departments/SKPD who attended were the Head of the Regional Planning and Development Agency (Bappeda) DIY, Drs. Tavip Agus Rayanto M.Si; The Head of the DIY Social Service, Drs. Untung Sukaryadi, MM; and the Head of the DIY Health Office, Drg. Pembayun Setyaningastutie M.Kes.
In addition to Ni Wayan Suriastini as the Executive Director and the principal investigator, other SurveyMETER research staff attending the event are Teguh Yudo Wicaksono, Dani Alfah, Kamtiningsih, Endra Dwi Mulyanto, and Jejen Fauzan.
Dr. Ni Wayan Suriastini and Dr. Teguh Yudo Wicaksono delivered the dissemination material presenting study results entitled: Prevalence and Risk Factors of Dementia Results of Dementia Study in DI Yogyakarta. The materials were prepared by the research members of this study, namely: Ni Wayan Suriastini, Yuda Turana, Firman Witoelar, Bondan Sikoki, Teguh Yudo Wicaksono, and Endra Dwi Mulyanto.
Sultan HB X welcomed the study results positively. He asserted it is a valuable input for the DIY Government to "open up" dementia (senile) issues and the problem of the elderly in general in this region.
The study on dementia in Yogyakarta is one of self-initiated research for knowledge products from SurveyMETER under full support from the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) and the Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI). SurveyMETER conducted field data collection from December 2015 to January 2016.
This study is the first study on dementia in Indonesia by taking a sample approach from the population with 1976 elderly respondents and 1415 caregivers in 1500 households. All the respondents randomly came from 100 urban/rural villages spread across districts and cities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). (JF)
