Evaluation Study of HIV-AIDS Prevention Program in Papua and West Papua 2014

In late January and February 2014, SurveyMETER in collaboration with the Burnet Institute will conduct evaluation studies of HIV AIDS Prevention Program in Papua and West Papua. This study was supported by UNICEF with the support of the Dutch government. HIV AIDS Prevention Program especially in Papua and West Papua is the Indonesian government's cooperation with UNICEF for the support of the Dutch government since 2010 which will expire in 2014.
The program aims to prevent new HIV infections in young people aged 10-24 years in Papua and West Papua. It is also a National Commitmentand both provinces related to HIV-AIDS in young people. The program also has the goal to increase the proportion of young people to have and use accurate knowledge about HIV-AIDS. In addition, to increase the proportion of young people who do the safe behavior.
The purposes of this evaluation study are: First, to explore changes in knowledge, attitude, and practice related to HIV and AIDS both of adolescents / youth who are in school or dropping out of school. Second, to explore the changes in organizational capacity of the education sector in responding HIV-AIDS, the capacity of teachers in teaching knowledge, and life skills in adolescents / youth. Third, to explore the impact of general and program effectiveness. Five side to be explored in this study is the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and sustainability of the program. Field data collection will be conducted by quantitative and qualitative research approaches at once.
All data collection process refers to the framework of evaluation studies. While the capacity of the education sector will be assessed in accordance with 4 of 5 domains in the terms of program reference, namely: policy and management system; establishment of curriculum and learning materials; training and support for teachers, and partnerships and advocacy.
