Balikpapan City Regional Action Workshop Towards an Elderly-Friendly City 2015-2030

The Balikpapan City Government trusted SurveyMETER to oversee its Regional Action Workshop Towards an Elderly-Friendly City 2015-2030. It is a follow-up series of commitments to cooperation between the two parties after conducting the dissemination results of the Elderly-Friendly City (KRL) assessment study in 2013.
The one-day workshop was held on May 31, 2016, at the official residence of the Deputy Mayor of Balikpapan, Jalan ARS Muhammad No.1, Kel. Klandasan Ulu, Balikpapan; about a hundred people were the workshop participants, were representatives of interest in regional government work units (SKPD) and other elderly stakeholders in Balikpapan City. The Executive Director of SurveyMETER, Dr. Ir. Ni Wayan Suriastini, M.Phil, also in charge of the KRL assessment study, became the sole resource person for the workshop.
The workshop aims to, first, provide understanding and support for regional government work units and stakeholders regarding the eight dimensions of an elderly-friendly city based on WHO guidelines, and second, increase multi-sectoral cooperation, among both government elements and all elements of the Balikpapan city community in an effort to improve the quality of the elderly welfare.
The Mayor of Balikpapan, Rizal Effendi, expressed his appreciation when opening the workshop because this activity supports the implementation of Balikpapan City towards an elderly-friendly city. Meanwhile, Dr. Ni Wayan Suriastini, M. Phil, emphasized this workshop was to follow up on the regional action plan (RAD) prepared based on the data from the KRL assessment study. Hence, regional actions are grouped according to the SKPD responsible for implementing improvements to indicators still weak from the eight dimensions of WHO guidance.
