SurveyMETER conducts the Indonesian Family Health Survey (SKKI) in partnership with the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) and the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). The fieldwork and study collection began in October and was completed in November 2014. This study area took place in three villages in Gresik Regency, East Java.
Prior to the baseline survey, which will be conducted in 735 villages and subdistricts throughout three provinces in 2015—North Sumatra, East Java, and Southeast Sulawesi—this study is a phase 1 pilot survey.
The overall objective of this project is to collect data to measure the level of family health as well as to provide insight into the revised National Health Insurance (JKN) premiums scheduled for 2016 through BPJS. Specific objectives include investigating whether using incentives, involving the community in outreach and payments, and reducing the hassle of registering will increase the participation of non-poor informal workers, reduce adverse selection, and increase the financial stability of JKN.
It is believed that the survey results would help government decision-makers come up with fresh ideas for carrying out the JKN initiative. The data for this survey was collected via an installed tablet application that recorded and saved answers to interview questions. (JF)
